Conversation Simulators

Conversation simulators are programs that can simulate a real conversation(hence 'conversation simulators'). I have picked up a few good ones. This page has information on what each one does and where to get them.

MegaHAL

This is the only conversation sim that actually learns from what you say to it, though most of the time it's just senseless jibberjabber. But sometimes it actually has an intelligent conversation or says something extremely funny. Click here to read some of MegaHAL's best quotes and conversations with me. MegaHAL¹s web site is http://megahal.sourceforge.net/

HeX

HeX was written by the same guy who wrote MegaHAL, but this one is a lot mores sensible. That doesn't mean it's more fun, though. Click here to read a conversation that I had with HeX. HeX was written by Jason Hutchens.

Eliza

Eliza is about as sensible as HeX, but plays the part of the psychiatrist, asking you about your sleeping troubles and past. Click here to see a conversation between me and Eliza. The Eliza web site is members.aol.com/tombb.

Web Ultra HAL

Web Ultra HAL is the most sensible to talk to, but is also the least fun. It can be used for customer service or just to talk to.(You can ask the version on this site about almost anything concerning this site.) It was made by Zabaware and you can put it on your site and customize it for free.
